Monday

Judy Blume

Yesterday was a really exciting day.  We went to the Santa Fe Film Festival's showing of Tiger Eyes, a book by Judy Blume turned into a film directed by Blume's son, Lawrence  Blume.

In the introduction of our book, True Stories of Censorship Battles in America's Libraries, we explain how we had the idea for writing the book when we met some librarians standing in line at the University of Southern Mississippi's Children's Book Festival in 2009.  Judy Blume was given the Medallion award that year for her work and she spoke about censorship that has occurred with her books.

We were so excited to be able to give her one of our books yesterday and she signed our personal copies of our books.  It was a great experience!

Tiger Eyes was a great film, made almost entirely in New Mexico.  It should be out in a larger release in the next year.
