Saturday

The Cars

Trip to Capulin National Monument

At the beginning of the day we had the choice between these cars. We took the red Concorde - even thought it was randomly shutting down.

Here we are about 30 miles into our trip around Raton. It restarted every time, so we kept going into rural NM (JM and I secretly got the name and number of a tow truck driver in Raton just in case).

Below - a windmill at another car stoppage.

Everyone out - more fixing the car.

Our weekend goal! The National Park stamping station. JM and I couldn't have been happier than a bee on carpet!

They even had a very very special volcano stamp. More excitement!

Butch wasn't feeling well, but DeWayne helped him see over the wall to see the view from the top of Capulin.

We took the trail into the middle of the volcano and then took the trail around the top. Stunning views. The day was clear and we could see forever.

Leaving Capulin - another car stoppage.....

More problem solving. We made it back to our hotel - the problem nearly solved!

Tuesday

Tucson by Segway

We took a segway tour of Tucson. The tour was terrific. They taught us how to ride the segue and then we set off on a 5 mile tour of the city - El Presidido Trail Tour. It was a lot of fun. Below we are in front of the courthouse.

This is a mural of life at the Presidio. It is part of a new city park that was open when Presidido artifacts were found when a new building was being excavated (the new building was never built because of the historically important items discovered).

Below is a mural on the wall of a museum next to El Tiradito.

Sunday

Saab's Winter Storage

The Saab is spending the winter in a garage near Mountainair.

We collected some nice hardwood for fires.

After spending the day outside, we made our way to the Shaffer Dining Room in Mountainair for really excellent enchiladas. It was dark, so we didn't take any pictures.

Wednesday

High Road To Taos

This was a controlled burn in the Carson National Forest.
